Foil Grade 595 - Specification
Metallic Bookbinding
Applications include
- Flexible plastics-type substrates, for example PVC, Pyroxylin, Vinyl, imitation leather, etc
- PVC-coated papers (e.g. Balacron, Discotex, Wintrol) and some other plastics-coated papers (e.g. Polyurethane)
- Real and imitation Leathers
- Many conventionally coated papers
Properties Overview
- 595 is ideally suited for the book-binding and shoe industries in particular, having been designed for excellent performance: -
- on specialist PVC and
coated substrates; real and imitation leathers
- in conjunction with the Platen-action typical of these industries
- being completely resistant
to Plasticiser migration
- 595's very easy release system and heavy adhesive coat makes it ideal for: -
- large area printing (as
well as some detail work) - see 591 for finer detail work.
- Coarse, grained and woven
surfaces
Typical Machine Temperatures
- Platen and Clam- shell;
Die- face: 100 - 130 oC
This foil was designed with
platen-action machines in mind. Therefore, we would suggest
that customers wishing to use 595 in conjunction with cylinder-type machines should contact our Technical Support Staff
for advice.
Resistance Properties
- Grade 595 has:
- Excellent resistance to Water (STM)
- Good resistance to Alcohol (STM)
- Good resistance to Abrasion (STM)
- Excellent resistance to Plasticiser migration (STM)
- Excellent Light- fastness (B.W.S. 6)
- As foils are heat-activated,
we advise against storing or transporting reels at high
temperature or humidity, although 595 is particularly resistant
to these conditions.
As with all
foil, we would suggest that ideal storage conditions
for 595 would be: -
- 5 - 20 oC (and out of direct sunlight),
- 30 - 70% Relative Humidity
- avoiding: Undue pressure on
the roll, Condensation
Toxicity
- Classed as "Non-Toxic"
- Meets stringent legislation of numerous national industry standards, including: -
- CONEG (relating to the
protection of the environment)
- EN71.3 (limits concentration of certain elements in toys, food packaging, etc.)
- BS5665 Part111 1995 (relating to toy safety)
- ASTM F963-96a US CPSC (relating to toy safety)
